Americanist Dinner Forum: "The Affective Turn"

West Campus, Conference Room A/B, 6:30pm-8:30pm

How has intensified thinking about affect across the humanities and social sciences been linked to new and different kinds of thinking about politics and power? This panel explores how attention to issues of sense, feeling, attunement, and sentimentality is enriching our understanding of the artistic, cultural, and political projects through which people engage with and inhabit the forces, tensions, vexations, and subjectivities of contemporary life.

RSVPs are due to by Friday, February 17th.

The Americanist Dinner Fora are the flagship intellectual event for the AMCS community. Each month features a new set of speakers exploring a topic relevant to American Studies through the medium of a selected reading. The reading will be circulated the week prior. AMCS graduate students are expected to attend each of the fora, and AMCS Faculty are strongly encouraged to attend.
