Congratulations to Máire Murphy, newly appointed Assistant Director of American Culture Studies, beginning July 1!

Máire Murphy joined the American Culture Studies Program in 2014 as AMCS Academic Coordinator. As Academic Coordinator, Máire has worked closely with AMCS colleagues to develop the undergraduate curriculum, strengthen the Major requirements, improve assessment and advising practices, and mentor undergraduate students. Her teaching for the program includes leading the AMCS Capstone Workshop and developing the new seminar, Art, Government, and the Dilemmas of Cultural Policy in Twentieth Century America. Prior to AMCS, Máire earned a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Virginia and spent a decade teaching at both the university and secondary levels (as a Visiting Assistant Professor at St. Louis University, adjunct at WUSTL University College, and faculty member at a private school in the St. Louis area).
