Careers & Internships

You've found your passion, and now you're ready to turn that into a career.

The American Culture Studies Program allows students the flexibility to chart a unique academic path within a multidisciplinary framework. AMCS students develop specialized skills and broader capacities that help them succeed in a wide range of professional and academic settings after college. Our alumni have become journalists, attorneys, health care professionals, policy makers, teachers, museum curators, advertising associates, and social media analysts, to name just a few fields and industries; many have gone on to pursue Master’s and Ph.Ds in the humanities and social sciences. AMCS students learn how to think critically, write analytically, research independently, synthesize large amounts of data, work collaboratively, develop and manage intellectual and creative projects, and apply their knowledge and methodologies in meaningful and constructive ways. Students in our program are well prepared to engage the diverse challenges and opportunities they will encounter in the workplace and beyond after they graduate from Washington University.
