G Yamazawa - Live at Tisch Commons

Join us for a night of live spoken word and Hip Hop performances by G Yamazawa!

The Program in American Culture Studies and Asian Multicultural Council is excited to present “Live at Tisch Commons,” a spoken word and Hip Hop show featuring G Yamazawa.

G is an MC, poet, and teaching artist born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. A National Poetry Slam Champion and Kundiman Fellow, he has toured in 48 states and 12 countries, with notable performances at the Sundance Film Festival, the Pentagon, Princeton University, and NYU-Abu Dhabi. His debut album, Shouts to Durham, and recent 2022 release, George, respectively charted at #34 and #6 on iTunes Top 100 Rap Albums. Since pursuing music as a full-time career, G has been widely regarded as one of the few spoken word artists to successfully transition into rap music.

This event has been organized by Daniel K. Woo, Postdoctoral Fellow in Ethnic Studies, and Andrew de las Alas and Shawn Zhu,co-presidents of the Asian Multicultural Council.

G will perform a 30-minute set of original spoken word and rap pieces. The show will be followed by a reception with refreshments. Come join us for a night of good Hip Hop, company, and food!
