The Instability of Race- an Interview with Michael Omi

 

In September 2014, Michael Omi, Associate Professor in the Ethnic Studies Department at UC Berkley, was the featured speaker for the Modern Segregation event, Racial Classification and the Instability of of Race. Prior to the event, Professor Omi spoke with Jeffrey McCune, Associate Professor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the Performing Arts Department, for an engaging conversation about race and racial classification, structural racism, the problematic discourse of a 'post-racial' society, and the possibility for vigorous, cross-disciplinary conversations about race in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
